Mini Brain Dumps

As we near the end of 2024, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the writing goals I set for myself earlier in the year. While I didn’t quite hit every target, it’s been a year full of creative growth, learning, and persistence. So, let’s take a moment to look back at what I accomplished, what challenged me, and how I plan to carry these lessons into the new year.

1. Focusing on Novel Writing

One of my main goals this year was to make significant progress on my fantasy novel. I’ve loved developing the world of mermaids and sirens, exploring the complex dynamics between characters like Quentin, Cate, and Lucy. It’s a world I’m excited to continue building, and while I haven’t hit the finish line just yet, I’m proud of how far the story has come. The depth and intricacy I’ve added to the plot and characters this year are setting me up for an even more exciting 2025.

2. Blogging Milestones

One of the most rewarding parts of my 2024 writing journey has been my blog. I set a goal to post twice a week, with a total of around 40 posts by the end of 2024. I’ve managed to maintain that posting schedule for the past six months and have already surpassed my goal by 20 posts (and we aren’t even done with Blogmas yet)!

It’s been such a joy to share more of my creative process with all of you.

3. Challenges and Lessons Learned

This year, life has thrown its fair share of challenges my way. Balancing a new leadership role at work with writing and blogging hasn’t been easy. There were moments when I felt overwhelmed, especially when unexpected responsibilities came up. But each challenge brought an important lesson: how to manage my time better, how to stay focused even when I don’t feel like writing, and how to prioritize what matters most.

One of the hardest lessons was learning to let go of perfection. There were times when I wished I had more time to fine-tune every detail in my novel or to read just one more chapter. But I’ve realized that growth comes from showing up and doing the work—even when it’s not perfect.

4. Looking Ahead: 2025 and Beyond

As I look toward 2025, I’m filled with excitement for the next steps in my writing journey. I plan to continue developing my fantasy novel world, diving deeper into my characters’ journeys. I also plan to write more short stories and possibly begin a new project outside of my current work.

My blog will continue to be a place where I share not just my writing but also my creative journey.
